That’s the secret of SUROP (Summer Undergraduate 研究 Opportunity), one of several UMKC programs that encourage undergrads to dive deep into their studies by funding research expenses for approved projects. The programs create a bridge linking passion to tangible performance.

Pierce was one of 19 students who received funding for summer research projects this year, on topics ranging from the urban heat island effect in Kansas City, 与儿童肥胖相关的健康政策, to using 3-D printing to create structures that mimic living tissue.
